My name is Crystal Rollefson and I am a Person-Centered and holistic Mental Health Therapist. I graduated with my Bachelor’s in Psychology at the University of Hawaii-West Oahu campus in 2017 and my Master’s degree as a Mental Health Counselor at Wayland Baptist University, Oahu Campus, in 2019. I have a Master’s Level Play Therapy Certificate. Play therapy can be both directive and non-directive, the clients learn appropriate communication, self-efficacy, build confidence, decision making skills, social skills and relational skills. It can also help with adjustment disorders such as when parents divorce or the loss of a loved one.
I began my work in behavior science as a Registered Behavior Technician working with children and youth on the Autism Spectrum. I then moved on to working as a substance abuse and mental health therapist in 2019, where I gained extensive experience in severe and persistent mental health issues such as PTSD, Schizophrenia, Bi-polar disorder, anxiety disorders, personality disorders, and depressive disorders.
I utilize different treatment modalities to fit my client’s needs, such as CBT, DBT, Solution Focused Therapy, and Mindfulness. I have extensive experience working with different cultures, ethnic backgrounds, LGBTQ communities including families of youth who are struggling with coming out or self-identity; homeless population, DHS families, and client ages ranging from 2 years old through late adulthood. I believe in providing a safe and judgement free area for self-discovery, to heal, grow, and reach your goals. I emphasize self-love and self-care as critical for the healing process and growth.
